1. Organizational issues

1.1. The organizer of the Start-up Challenge 2017 ("Start-up Challenge") is Związek Liderów Sektora Usług Biznesowych (Eng.: Association of Business Service Leaders, "ABSL" or "Organizer") with its seat in Warsaw, address: Rondo ONZ 1, 00-124 Warsaw, NIP: 525-246-58-47, entered into the register of associations and organizations, other social or professional organizations, foundations and independent public health care establishments and the register of entrepreneurs of the National Court Register maintained by the District Court for the capital city of Warsaw in Warsaw, XII Commercial Division of the National Court Register under the KRS number: 0000340712.

2. Start-up Challenge

2.1. The Start-up Challenge is a competition that enables newly started companies and authors of innovative start-up projects with special emphasis on technology and business services sector to present themselves to investors, VIPs and CEOs invited by the Organizer, and to the ABSL audience at the conference held on 13th-14th June 2016 in Łódź.

2.2. The Start-up Challenge is addressed to all innovative, early-stage start-ups working on a product (seed stage) or having, at least, an MVP demo version (early stage).

2.3. The Start-up Challenge is open to any start-up project which has Polish origin and intends to gain access to future collaboration and/or funding from/with the Business Services sector companies in Poland and the CEE region, which have as the principal platform: the ABSL itself, and particularly, the ABSL Annual Conference, which will take place in Łódź this year. The areas which the Challenge especially addresses are: IoT, SaaS, Biga Data, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, FinTech, HR solutions, process management and processes optimization.

2.4. The Start-up Challenge is open to companies and individuals, who are (I) not employed by the Organizer or a member of ABSL, (II) the sole authors of a start-up project, (III) held all copyrights thereto, as well as rights to any operations of the start-up, and (IV) its implementation would not violate the rights of third parties’ copyright and undertakes to keep the copyright until the end of the Start-up Competition final.

2.5. Upon entering the Start-up Challenge, the participants accept the Start-up Challenge terms and conditions described in these regulations in their entirety. The participants should accept the rules lay down herein and confirm satisfaction with all terms and conditions entitling them to participate in the Start-up Challenge.

2.6. The Start-up Challenge Competition Schedule is published on http://startupchallenge.pl/.

2.7. Any rights to the ideas/projects presented by the start-ups during the Start-up Challenge shall remain with the start-ups and will not be transferred onto ABSL, any of the ABSL members, as well as onto any third party.

2.8. In case of any claims related with the ownership of the copyrights of the projects presented within the Start-up Challenge by any third party, the participant who presented the idea shall indemnify and hold harmless the Organizer from any such claims.

3. Participation in the Start-up Challenge Competition

3.1. Stage I – Elimination

3.1.1. In order to participate in the Start-up Challenge, candidates are obliged to submit their application available at http://startupchallenge.pl/ on/or before May 7th, 2017.

3.1.2. From among the applications submitted by the candidates, the Jury of the Start-up Challenge (Jury line-up is available at http://startupchallenge.pl/) shall choose a minimum of 10 start-ups that qualify for the second stage of the challenge which consists on regional semifinals in 7 cities (Wrocław, Warsaw, Katowice, Krakow, Łódź, Poznań and Trójmiasto) where selected start-up teams will pitch in front of all the regional juries composed of all regional ABSL member companies, taking into consideration the following criteria: (I) Level of Innovation, (II) Validation, regarding the feasibility of the business, (III) Business Model, meaning possibilities of customer growth or revenue, (IV) Technical Execution, regarding the functionality of the product, (V) Design Execution, meaning professional look , compelling and captivating user experience, and (VI) Customer Validation, with respect of the team identification and engagement of possible customers. The Organizer shall publish the list of participants qualified for the second stage of the Start-up Challenge competition at http://startupchallenge.pl/ no later than 16 June 2016. The Organizer shall not be obliged to inform the start-ups not qualified for the second stage of the Start-up Challenge.

3.1.3. The Organizer shall publish the list of participants qualified for the semifinals of the Start-up Challenge competition at http://startupchallenge.pl/ no later than May 12th, 2017. The Organizer shall not be obliged to inform the start-ups not qualified for the semifinals of the Start-up Challenge.

3.1.4. At the regional semifinals, ABSL member companies' representatives and Partners' representatives will choose one start-up project per region as the winner, giving the winning start-up team the opportunity to participate and pitch at the Finals during the ABSL Annual Conference in Łódź. Each member company and each Partner has the right to one vote taking into consideration the following criteria: (I) Level of Innovation, (II) Validation, regarding the feasibility of the business, (III) Business Model, meaning possibilities of customer growth or revenue, (IV) Technical Execution, regarding the functionality of the product, (V) Design Execution, meaning professional look, compelling and captivating user experience, (VI) Customer Validation, with respect of the team identification and engagement of possible customers, and (VII) Quality of Presentation, meaning the way of explaining and presenting the idea by each of the start-ups.

3.2. Stage II - Finals

3.2.1. The Organizer shall publish the list of participants qualified for the Finals of the Start-up Challenge competition at http://startupchallenge.pl/ no later than June 2nd, 2017. The Organizer shall not be obliged to inform the start-ups not qualified for the Finals of the Start-up Challenge.

3.2.2. Start-ups qualified for the Finals of the Start-up Challenge shall be invited to the conference organized by ABSL in Łódź, on 13-14 June 2017, where the Start-up Challenge Final will be held on the second day of the conference.

3.2.3. For the Final, each start-up will need to prepare a presentation of their project, with the duration of up to five (5) minutes, which will be presented to the Jury of the Start-up Challenge (jury line up is available at http://startupchallenge.pl/). From among the start-ups participating in the final, the jury shall choose a winner of the Start-up Challenge, taking into consideration the following criteria: (I) Level of Innovation, (II) Validation, regarding the feasibility of the business, (III) Business Model, meaning possibilities of customer growth or revenue, (IV) Technical Execution, regarding the functionality of the product, (V) Design Execution, meaning professional look, compelling and captivating user experience, (VI) Customer Validation, with respect of the team identification and engagement of possible customers, and (VII) Quality of Presentation, meaning the way of explaining and presenting the idea by each of the start-ups. The Start-up Challenge Winner shall be announced during Day 2 of the Conference. However, if in the opinion of the jury neither of the start-ups participating in the final deserves winning, the jury may decide that no winner shall be chosen.

4. Rewards

4.1. The Organizer undertakes to cover the cost of travel and guarantee the accommodation for the members of the start-up teams qualified to the Start-up Challenge Final. The Organizer shall cover the cost of travel and accommodation for no more than two members of each of the start-up teams qualified for the Start-up Challenge Final.

4.2. The Organizer provides free participation at the ABSL Conference for up to two members of each of the start-ups qualified to the Start-up Challenge Final. The regular fee for individual participation at the Conference is 2950 PLN.

4.3. The primary reward for being qualified to the Start-up Challenge Final is the possibility to present one’s start-up project in front of the qualified and renowned jury of the Start-up Challenge (jury line up is available at http://startupchallenge.pl/).

4.4. Additionally, each of the start-ups qualified to the Start-up Challenge Final shall have the opportunity to participate in the conference with representatives of companies associated with ABSL. In this way, the participants shall have a unique opportunity to enhance their business contacts and consult their ideas with leaders of the business service sector.

4.5. The Start-up Challenge Winner shall be rewarded with the ABSL Diploma, a commemorative statuette and an individual coaching session with a chosen Jury Member. However, if its occurs that the Start-up Challenge Winner has breached the herein terms and conditions, the Organizer shall be entitled to dispose the winner of the reward and grant the reward and the title of the Start-up Challenge Winner to another participant of the Start-up Challenge Final.

4.6. Additionally to the winner of the Challenge, the Partner companies of the ABSL Start-up Challenge will choose 3 Commendation awards and; during the ABSL Conference, the public attending will vote for selecting one start-up that will be granted with the Audience’s Choice Award.

5. Consent for the use of image rights and data protection

5.1. During the conference, the Organizer is entitled to make pictures and movies for the purpose of using them in the mass media (TV, radio, Internet, press) or for documentation, promotion and marketing purposes of the Organizer, ABSL Sponsors and other entities indicated by the Organizer. Participation in the Start-up Challenge means granting the consent for recording, using and broadcasting by the Organizer and its related entities and sponsors, of the image/voice/statements of each of the participants, in all promotional and marketing materials, without any time and territorial limitations.

5.2. Granting the consent means that the pictures, movies and records made during the conference can be published on the website of the conference, or other website maintained by the Organizer and used in promotional materials, including broadcasting them in audio, video and image formats. Each of the participants hereby waives all claims (existing and future), including for the remuneration from the Organizer and its sponsors, on the basis of using their image/voice/statements for purposes indicated in the herein terms and conditions.

5.3. Each of the participants hereby grants the consent for the processing of their personal data provided in the Start-up Challenge by the Organizer (acting as a personal data administrator), in accordance with the Polish Act on Personal Data Protection of 29 August 1997. Participants also confirm that they provided their personal data voluntarily and they have the right to access and modify their data.

6. Final terms and conditions

6.1. Participation in the Start-up Challenge means that the participant accepts the terms and conditions of the Start-up Challenge and the rules of ABSL Conference in their entirety. The participants also assure that they shall comply with the rules laid down herein and declare they satisfy all prerequisites of participation in the Start-up Challenge.

6.2. The schedule of the Start-up Challenge is published on http://startupchallenge.pl/. The Organizer reserves the right to change the Start-up Challenge Schedule. Any changes shall be published on http://startupchallenge.pl/.
